The role of key laboratory tests in the investigation and management of metabolic bone disease

Metabolic bone diseases include osteoporosis, vitamin D deficiency diseases such as osteomalacia, hyperparathyroidism and metabolic bone disease of chronic kidney disease (CKD-MBD). These diseases have a large and increasing prevalence worldwide with significant contribution to overall morbidity to patients and resource implications to health services. The value of the laboratory in the diagnosis and management of these disease and thereby outcomes in these conditions cannot be overstated.

This webinar will address the roles of three key analytes through which the laboratory adds value to the diagnosis management of metabolic bone disease: PTH, vitamin D and bone turnover markers (BTM). It is important that laboratory professionals are familiar with the clinical applications of these important analytes.
