In response to the unprecedented Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), caused by severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), IFCC formed a global taskforce back in March of this year. The taskforce has been evaluating the rapidly growing scientific evidence on COVID-19 and has been developing and publishing an important series of guidelines on laboratory biosafety as well as testing modalities to assist clinical laboratories across the world.
In this series of webinar presentations, IFCC taskforce members will present on newly developed testing guidelines to support clinical laboratories globally with a focus on developing countries. The overall aim is to provide practical recommendations on the intended use, selection, evaluation and implementation of molecular and serological tests used in the diagnosis and monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 infection as well as biochemical and hematological testing used in the management of hospitalized patients with COVID-19.
