Introducing Associate Professor Saara Wittfooth, an expert in immunoassay design and a research group leader serving as an Associate Professor and Vice Department Head at the Department of Life Technologies at the University of Turku, Finland. She has additional roles in international scientific committees, including the Executive Committee of the Scientific Division, the Working Group on Troponin Standardization and the Committee on Clinical Applications of Cardiac Bio-Markers at the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine. Associate Professor Wittfooth’s research activities are related to the development of highly sensitive immunoassays for biomarkers of various diseases. In the focus of her research interests are novel cardiac biomarkers, such as long forms of cardiac troponin T, free PAPP-A and cardiac troponin autoantibodies / macrotroponin, and novel highly-sensitive immunoassays for the detection of these molecules. She has published many papers in top journals such as Clinical Chemistry, Circulation and the European Heart Journal.
