Dr. Kristin M Aakre is medical doctor and professor in medical biochemistry. She was board certified in laboratory medicine in 2009 and completed her PhD in 2011 (University of Bergen). She has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed international journals and is PI of several large clinical studies including the 4 WESTCOR-studies and the PRERULE study. Her main research interests are diagnostic and prognostic properties of cardiac biomarkers, with a particular focus on acute coronary syndrome. She has also published within biological variation, reference change values and novel aspects of personalized reference intervals, mainly related to cardiac and endocrine biomarkers. She is participating in several national and international working groups within laboratory medicine and is the current Chair of the IFCC Committee on Clinical Application of Cardiac Biomarkers. She is also past associate editor of Clinical Biochemistry.
